WELCOME TO BLACKMOSS FLY FISHING ASSOCIATION.

We are what it says 'on the tin' a fly fishing association, small in numbers ( we prefer it that way) but big in quality.
We have some good all year round fishing for rainbows in the lower reservoir and superb fishing for brownies in the lower and upper reservoir from March until September.
Although we are are small club, and wish to remain so, we do sometimes have vacancies for new members.
We also sell day tickets so that non members can experience the quality of fishing Black Moss. It's not easy fishing, not a stew pond in sight, but when you get it right it can be brilliant.
You can find contact details at the top of the page and day tickets details on the right hand side as you scroll down.

WINTER UPDATE

A very quite few months, with a great deal of adverse weather has meant very few members venturing out to wet, or ice, a line.
A couple of items for both members and day ticket holders, first of all, United Utilities have started work on both reserviours, to strengthen the overflow walls.
This means that at sometimes over the next few months access to a small part of the reserviours may not be available during the working week, however this restiction will be kept to a minimum.
Secondly, we now have a replacement stove in the fishing hut, so you can warm your bits and bobs during the cooler parts of the year.
The 2012 Club Annual Dinner, will be held on the Saturday 24th March, so make sure that you contact David to book your place.

START OF A NEW SEASON

THE END OF ONE SEASON & THE START OF ANOTHER.
The summer has now long gone and as we approach the short days and long nights of winter, a little reminder that the top reservoir is now closed until the 15th March 2012.
The lower reservoir is, of course, still open and will remain so over the winter.
A stocking of rainbows will take place over the next few weeks, with about six fish being tagged. If you happen to catch one of the tagged fish please enter the fact onto the log, giving details of condition etc. and PLEASE RETURN IT so that we can gain some information as to to the growth rate/ condition of the fish.
DAY TICKET holders please note only rainbows to be taken between 1st October and 14th March, ALL BROWNS to be returned.

Season Under Way!!!

Well what a lovely start to the season today. Twelve members arrived to find almost perfect conditions. A cool breeze however made casting a little challenging as the morning progressed on some banks but the sunshine made up for that.

John & Ray frying bacon & egg butties in the cabin looked good and smelt even better but sadly they did not bring enough bacon to go round! Must remember to take some next time!!

Some lovely fish caught on the bottom res. A couple of us caught a fin perfect brace and new member Frank was snapped as he brought one to the bank. All fish were caught on a mixture of Black & pennel, Red arrow, crunchers and orange quill buzzers.

The upper reservoir was a little less productive but that is usually the way until the weather warms up a little.

Hope this is a sign of good things to come this season.
